We Keep it Organic

SOLO SEXX

We had our hands full this week with the dynamic duo of Heather McCormack and Julez Sheratt the two lucious ladies that comprise UMass’ own Solo Sexx.

The duo are currently preparing for their April 8th show at UPC’s Battle of Bands which pits them against local area bands for the grand prize of an opening slot for Lupe Fiasco and Girl Talk at this year’s spring concert.

And while those names are still in their rumor stages, the girls are taking no chances putting their strutting stuff behind the beats with the hopes of putting on a show that includes back-up dancers for the judges.

While we wish the ladies luck, these exclusive tracks like “Loquatia & Uniquia” and “Balle Funk” showcase that they have what it takes to compete for the spot. Those of you who can’t make it out to the Battle of the Bands can take solace in the fact that the duo have secured a slot at April 25th’s Extravaganja to be held in Amherst Center.

40th Anniversary Spectacular: Part III

Jeremiah Montgomery Thompson

It had been exactly 35 episodes since Jeremiah Montgomery Thompson first graced the airwaves with his original tunes “Leaving Town” and “Half a Mind.” His fingerpicking folk style hasn’t changed much since, it still ruffles through your hair like a crisp Alabama breeze. This time he’s brought along a special guest named Martin for this exclusive Sweet Baby Lou duet. So here’s a video to keep you rockin’ in your chairs.

BEHIND THE SCENES

You heard it on air, now see what’s happening when those crazy cats who comprise Sweet Baby Lou & The Reverends of Funk dig deep into the behind the scenes madness. Its hijinks! Its music! Its a weird insight into Charlie and Pete’s head(s). Enjoy these looks into the violence and un-FCC regulated shenanigans that comprise the Sweet Baby Lou warm-up.

So We Got This Theory

ONE THEORY

Pioneer Valley area hard rockers ONE THEORY stopped by for this quiet acoustic set complete with bongo drums. The set was a departure for a band, that live usually lays on the distortion and overdrive to achieve the maximum metal needed to fill such venues like Maximum Capacity.

The boys played a handful of tunes including “Church,” obviously about a stripped, “Disappear” as well as a much-rehearsed version of Posion’s “Every Rose has its Thorn.” See the fruits of this collaboration below.

Pachari a Deux

PACHARI

Pachari (right) playing around the campfire…

It’s always great when an old guest comes to visit us again. All grown up *tear*. The first time Pachari hit the studio, we loved his original songs even though we couldn’t pronounce his name.

However when Pachari is the studio, Sweet Baby Lou hit notoriously emotional (not emo) levels and that’s just what happened when we commissioned Pachari for our Body Part show. Where Pachari played original songs like “E Rizzo,” “NRM” as well as original web exclusives like his cover of Elliot Smith’s “The Biggest Lie” and a totally improvised studio song.

DOUBLE VISION

DEJA BREW ON SWEET BABY LOU

Bassist Noam Pelleg of Deja Brew
Bassist Noam Pelleg of Deja Brew

Deja Brew is a UMass based musical act that plays all your favorite tunes from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sublime to classic rock tunes of Eric Clapton and Bill Withers.

Consisting of four members, Scott Borecki (vocals, guitar), Noam Pelleg (bass, vocals), Ben Andrews (lead guitar), and Ethan Snyder (drums), Deja Brew delivers their music with high energy and good humored fun (according to their myspace).

In studio, the boys from Deja Brew came in and did just that playing some raucous covers of “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Aeroplane,” and others. One of the candidates for loudest Sweet Baby Lou band, Deja Brew cranked those amps up to 10 and didn’t stop.

Kudos.
