STOMP OUT SPIDER STOMPING

Isn't He cute?

Isn't He cute?

Here at Sweet Baby Lou we have a long history of dedication to a cause. From Sweet Baby Lou and his Anti-peach crusade in the Late 70s all the way up to our latest more arachnid based endeavors.

Last Thursday a caller brought to our attention the terrible plight that has befallen our eight legged friends, spiders. For more information about this cause listen to our well intentioned caller and here the calls of his most noble plight. Also stay tuned for additional Sweet Baby Lou fundraising in the coming weeks.

Sweet Baby Lou Goes Hollywood

WHO SHOT HOLLYWOOD

78344-1

That’s right, just like Seth Rogen and his rapidly declining weight, we at the Funk have also gone Hollywood. You know the up all night coke-binging ones where we sneak onto better films without doing any of the actual work. Like this session for example. Wasn’t even on our show. Never met these guys. But Oliver Scott Snure aka DJ Twist of Friday Night’s “Happy Valley Heroes” did and he produced this ace session. Nominate us for supporting actor.

“Happy Valley Heroes” follows in the footsteps of Sweet Baby Lou offering local music every Friday night from 12-2AM. So you may have accidentally tuned in a few times.

However, we’re far too off topic. The topic here is Who Shot Hollywood a group of 14 year-olds with more under their belt than most great local area bands twice their age. This past month they rocked the bill in Austin, TX for their annual festival South by Southwest (SXSW). The band have been touring in various incarnations since the fourth grade and have played with such distinguished acts as THE FRAY and TED LEO & THE PHARMACISTS.

But don’t take our word, take Oliver’s and peep this Sweet session.

So We Got This Theory

ONE THEORY

Pioneer Valley area hard rockers ONE THEORY stopped by for this quiet acoustic set complete with bongo drums. The set was a departure for a band, that live usually lays on the distortion and overdrive to achieve the maximum metal needed to fill such venues like Maximum Capacity.

The boys played a handful of tunes including “Church,” obviously about a stripped, “Disappear” as well as a much-rehearsed version of Posion’s “Every Rose has its Thorn.” See the fruits of this collaboration below.

Oh So Horny

A WRENCH IN THE SPOKES

Two weeks ago Sweet Baby Lou set out on a voyage to sea, complete with sea shanties and of course there was no better choice for a rocking band on this voyage than UMass’ own ska-tastic A Wrench in the Spokes.

Here on our shared voyage the guys showcased some new material fresh from their newest album, “Drunk, High & Slightly Political.” The quartet is composed of frontmen; guitarist Brandon Rainville, bassist Jack Hawkins, drummer Mike Dunn, and trumpet player Ben Stein and are a self-described “ska-punk” band.

You can look out for the boys on April 25th where they are on the bill for this year’s Extravaganja to be held once again on the Amherst commons. The event also features such Sweet Baby Lou alums as The Alchemystics and other local notables like Shokazoba.
