Sweet Baby Lou “Sweet Tooth” Part 1 FULL EPISODE

Success! After all the years of staying up late in order to enjoy your weekly dose of the Reverends, now you can experience them anytime. Anytime! Like now! Or on the way to your Grandmas! Or while you are killer whale hunting (though it is an act which we don’t condone.)

Well here it is in all its glory, the first half of last week’s Sweet Tooth Show featuring Bella’s Bartok, in FULL! Well at least half of it. Look for the rest later in the week and more archived episodes in the future.

Bella’s Bartok Sweeten up SBL

This past Wednesday Sweet Baby Lou got a “Sweet Tooth” mostly from all those songs related to sugar and honey, or perhaps it was all that purple drink we’ve been hearing so much about.

Either way, Bella’s Bartok helped to add their own personal brand of sugar to the mix staying for the entire two-hour show and oftentimes playing with complete disregard to the fact they weren’t on air. When on-air, their set included a healthy mix of their own originals “Zora” and “Party Song” alongside woozy impromptu covers of such timeless rockers as “Ziggy Stardust,” “Helter Skelter,” and “Sweet Jane.”

While three members short, Bella’s Bartok still packed the studio with nine members, an accordion, lots of horns, and enough foot stomping fury to power us through the night and the subsequent root canals.

Local gypsy, folk rockabilly-ers Bella’s Bartok are slated for their Sweet Baby Lou debut this Wednesday. The 12 piece ensemble is set to push the boundaries of our studio space and the airwaves with some shambling grooves.

Until then the reverends would like to wet your appetite with Bella’s newly minted first studio track “The Walking Dead.” Click read more to hear the recording, a preview of what is to come on Wednesday’s forthcoming episode.

Outer Stylie Bring the Sickness

The theme for Wednesday’s show was Sweet Baby Lou in Critical Condition and while we may have been in the hospital it was Outer Stylie that brought the sickness.

For their second Sweet Baby Lou session the boys, a one time trio, returned as a four piece this time adding rhythm guitarist John Duffy and new drummer Kyle Heon. The new members have been playing with the band’s founders Nate Martel (Guitar, vocals) and Tom Schack (bass) for almost nine months in their current incarnation and are about to release their first self titled album, due later this year.

Despite the difference in members, Outer Stylie retained their crown as Sweet Baby Lou’s loudest band, and though they didn’t pass their record for longest song (“Triphecta of the Moon” clocked in at 19 minutes) they did come close with their spiraling psychedelic jam “Into Being.” As guitarist Nate Martel said before ripping into this track “we want to take you there.” You should let them.
